With the USA on the backfoot when the penalty hit, India settled well at 76/3, needing 35 runs from the last five overs to win.

Commentator Dinesh Karthik revealed that India were lucky to avoid a five-run penalty in the deciding match against Pakistan, which they won by six runs.

“There was a lot of pressure on the captain of the bowling team – India got away with it in the game against Pakistan, where they had two errors and the third would have been a strike,” DK was quoted as saying by the ICC.
